Ultimate Frisbee

Today, our conditioning consisted of playing Ultimate Frisbee.  As I was throwing the frisbee around, I was mindful of the forces that make the disc behave the way it does when it is thrown in the air. The two main aerodynamic forces acting on it are drag and lift. Another factor is gyroscopic stability.  The frisbee must must rotate in order for it to "fly" because the aerodynamic forces are not centered on it: the lift on the front part is greater that on the back part, causing a torque on the frisbee.
